Paradip Port Achieves Highest Ever Monthly Cargo Throughput

One of the major ports of India, the Paradip Port clocked all time monthly volume record in terms of Cargo Handling as it handled 10.18 MMT cargo in January, 2018 thus by achieving its highest ever monthly total.

Addressing a gathering of the Port Users and stake holders along with other Governemnt officials,  Chairman of Paradip Port Trust (PPT), Rinkesh Roy  described it to be a historic day for the Port. He credited the all-round efforts of the officials and employees of Traffic Department, Marine Department, Mechanised Coal Handling Plant (MCHP) Division and Iron Ore Handling Plant (IOHP) Division for the record performance.

The PPT Chairman said, “the way Port is increasing its cargo handling, it seems that, PPT will cross the coveted mark of 100 MMT cargo handling in the current fiscal.”

The previous record for total monthly cargo handling was reached only a month ago in December of 2017, when 9.5 MMT cargo was handled. The MCHP has handled the highest no. of rakes – 570, in the month of January, 2018, whereas the IOHP handled 116 rakes. The Marine Department successfully conducted a record number of 467 shipping movements during the same period.
